It is the selectmen’s elected fiscal responsibility to inform the assembled voters how money flows and whether or not it can be used for overruns on a project.
Lucy Wallace shouldn’t be castigated because she usefully informed the attendees at the Town Meeting that CPIC wasn’t willing to commit funding for the short-term possible overage for the Hildreth House. Certainly this needs no apology.
