Systems analyst, longtime resident

Alfred Hammond Raynes, born Aug. 14, 1918, in Hyde Park, died March 27 after a brief illness. He was the son of William Augustus Raynes and Harriet Anna Schmalz. A veteran of World War II, he was retired from General Electric, where he had been a systems analyst.
Alfred was a long-time resident of Harvard, and he summered in Deer Isle, Maine. His wife of 62 years, Barbara F. Raynes, preceded him in death by 10 years. He leaves two daughters, Linda Ann Raynes of San Diego, California, and Barbara Lee Marquis of Niceville, Florida. He had four grandchildren, Beckett Hammond Kirk, Evan Alexander Kirk, Rebecca Lee McDonnell, and Linda Ann Fylak, and six great-grandchildren, Auzule Patricia Diaz, Kristian Hammond Kirk, Geoffrey Peter Fylak, Krytyna Nicole Fylak, John Patrick McDonnell, and Sabrina Lee McDonnell.
Services will be held Saturday, April 2, at Badger Funeral Home, 45 School St., Groton at 2 p.m.
