The Bromfield Ludo Festival 2016 says thank you to the Harvard PTO, our donors, our volunteers, and especially our international families who step into the role of international ambassadors and share their food, music, and activities from around the world. This year’s event had over 150 attendees who traveled the world in one evening! Our dedication to Rachid Hankour, father of three Bromfield students and international ambassador to Algeria, who passed away in 2013, served to honor his generosity in sharing his heritage with our HES Festival of Cultures and the Ludo Festival for more than 10 years. His wife, Caroline, and son, Kamil, joined us for this dedication. Our international raffle, with all its donated items, brings Rachid to mind, as his travels to over 40 countries helped stock our raffles with worldly treasures for over a decade. Our memories hold his story and his enthusiasm for learning through a worldly perspective. New international ambassadors from New Zealand, Sweden, Mexico, Ecuador, and Bolivia were part of more than 20 countries represented.
Thanks go to the Bromfield administration for opening the doors of the school for the sixth annual international celebration. This event is only as good as the sum of its volunteers and their heart and passion for their heritage. Strong high school community service volunteerism remains an essential support to the Ludo Festival! Our international raffle was organized this year exclusively by a student and was a fabulous success. We thank all families who donated items for this raffle. So many smiles by those who had a little of their evening travels wrapped up into a raffle winning! We enjoy seeing growing leadership roles taken by students at our event. We depend on Mrs. Dyer’s faculty liaison role with the Middle School, and Mrs. Silver’s support with the Middle School Student Council.
