This week police made six traffic stops that resulted in three citations and three verbal warnings. Police also assisted two motorists with disabled vehicles and fielded three calls about roadway hazards. The ambulance crew responded to three medical emergencies and took two people to the hospital. One person refused transport to the hospital.
Tuesday, Jan. 19
A resident called at 11:24 a.m. to report that he had been notified by his credit card company about an apparent case of credit card fraud. Police say the man speculated that it was a result of having lost his wallet in New Hampshire. At 12:13 p.m. a Depot Road resident called with concerns about an unfamiliar white van that had pulled into the driveway. The caller said the driver had gotten out and knocked at the front door, and when no one answered, left. An officer located the van and determined that the driver was a contractor who had been hired to do work at a residence on Depot Road and was looking for directions to the home. A Bolton Road resident called at 12:55 p.m. to report that a neighbor had a dead deer in the yard and that the carcass was attracting coyotes. Police say no action was required, as it was a civil matter. At 9:43 p.m. a caller reported losing some keys in the parking lot at the General Store.

Thursday, Jan. 21
A Park Lane resident called at 9:06 a.m. seeking contact information for the animal control officer to report being knocked down by a neighbor’s dog a month ago. A resident stopped at the station at 5:51 p.m. with concerns about the smell of cigarette smoke lingering in her car. The woman said she did not smoke and suspected someone may have broken into her car. Police say that without additional evidence, the report was unfounded. A Shaker Road resident called at 6:52 p.m. to report a missing black Labrador retriever.
Friday, Jan. 22
At 3:02 a.m. Boxborough police called to request assistance at an apartment complex where a man was reported outside screaming. Police say the man was arrested by Boxborough police for operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor. A resident on Still River Depot Road called at 11:32 a.m. to say that a neighbor had called and told her there was a man walking behind her house. Police checked the area but did not find anyone. A Peninsula Road resident called at 1:06 p.m. to report a case of trespassing. Police say it appeared that someone had used the resident’s driveway to reverse direction. An East Bare Hill Road resident called at 8:32 p.m. to report that someone might be trying to break into the house. The caller said someone had rung the doorbell, and subsequently there was banging on the back door. Police checked the home but did not find anyone. They attributed the banging sound to items that fell in the basement.
Saturday, Jan. 23
A Depot Road resident called at 7:33 p.m. to report a case of harassment.
Sunday, Jan. 24
A resident on Old Shirley Road called at 9:59 a.m. to notify police that he would be making a music video and expected a lot of traffic near his residence as a result.
Monday, Jan. 25
An officer on patrol at 3:12 a.m. stopped at Waite Field on Lancaster County Road to investigate an occupied car parked there. The driver told the officer he had just pulled in to turn around.
