Harvard Park trail reconstruction is complete thanks to volunteers

January 7, 2016

The reconstruction of the trails behind McCurdy Track at Harvard Park is now complete, and I would like to extend a thank-you to the people who helped make it happen. Jim Lee and Marisa Steele designed the trails and worked with the Conservation Commission and Parks and Recreation Commission to execute the project. Pinard’s Landscaping did a wonderful job with the construction, and now the trails are safe and free of standing water. The trails are a gravel grated-base, similar to the path connecting Depot and Blanchard roads, with drains in locations designed to allow the natural flow of water through the area. The cross-country teams plan on using the trails as a permanent home course starting in the fall. This is an enormous asset to the town, which will allow more people to enjoy the land as well as avoid the drainage issues presented by the old trails. Thanks to all involved for creating a fabulous addition to Harvard Park.
