Seventh-grader Matt Atwell won Bromfield’s school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee on Dec. 23. Atwell and other school winners statewide will take an online test; top scorers from Massachusetts will be eligible to compete in the state bee on April 1.
Earlier in December, Atwell and second-place finisher Julian Iverson won their way into the school-level bee during preliminary classroom competitions. Other participants included sixth-graders Faith Massoni, Chloe Scornavacca, Sophie Thompson, and Geraghty Vellante; seventh-graders Carter Curry, Meredith Greayer, Max Strazdus, and Lin Lin Yu; and eighth-graders Dylan Ashe, Zach Bourque, Henry DiNapoli, Shreya Kumar, and Liza Toll.
