The new roof is on, the old siding is off, and the new cupola is up—that is, according to the original Town Hall renovation schedule provided by G.V.W. Construction back in May. But a drive on Ayer Road past Town Hall makes it obvious that none of those tasks is complete, and, in fact, they are not even enumerated in the current two-week task plan that the contractor provides to the town. According to Town Administrator Tim Bragan, the town has repeatedly asked G.V.W for an updated schedule but has yet to receive anything.
Town Hall–Hildreth House Construction Committee member Jack Guswa brought up the delays at the Aug. 31 committee meeting. He said that, according to the schedule the town has, the old cupola base was to be removed by late July; the siding was scheduled to be off by Aug. 27; the new cupola should have been up by Aug. 31; and the roof was scheduled to be finished by Sept. 3. Guswa said that all of those dates had been considered to be the latest dates for completion of the tasks.
Committee Chairman Rick Maiore said he doesn’t think these delays will affect the finish date for the project, but he agreed that G.V.W. needs to provide a new schedule to the town as soon as possible.
