The Board of Trustees of Perkins announced that Harvard resident Michael Ames, Ph.D., of Slough Road, has been named executive director/CEO of Perkins—the Lancaster-Clinton human services agency that includes the Doctor Franklin Perkins School and affiliate programs.
Dr. Ames holds a Ph.D. from the Heller School for social policy and management at Brandeis University; a Master of Business Administration and Master of Social Work, both from Boston College; and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in New York. He has been employed in leadership positions in a number of human service agencies including Crittenton Women’s Union (CWU), the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC), and the Key Program.
Perkins is a diverse organization serving children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral challenges at the Doctor Franklin Perkins School and Perkins Child Development Center. It also provides community mental health service at Perkins Behavior Health, a community group practice, day vocational and residential programs for adults with intellectual disabilities in Clinton, assisted living services at Davis Manor, and therapeutic horsemanship programs at Rein in a Dream. Perkins employs more than 300 staff members and has an annual operating budget of more than $20 million.
