Since when is an unproved allegation of a misdemeanor that occurred nine years ago in another state worthy of a front-page finger-pointing salacious headline in the Harvard Press? And why does the reporting of the alleged incident focus so intently on the spouse of the person the article is supposed to be about? Are you implying guilt by association?
I don’t know these people, but since I’ve lived here I can see that Harvard has a history of going after its school superintendents. And as an older gay school teacher who survived many a witch hunt in the ’70s and ’80s, I can smell a witch hunt a mile away, and that article is part of a witch hunt. The Press article was not about the school superintendent’s husband’s alleged misdemeanor misconduct in another state nine years ago; it was about her.
The Harvard Press has slipped into the shoddy world of yellow journalism to grab a cheap thrill in a headline. Shame on you for trying to shame a small family in a small town for unproved allegations of events that, even if it turns out they occurred, have nothing to do with this town.
