The Bromfield girls’ lacrosse team beat the Littleton Tigers 17–9 at Littleton Alumni Field on Thursday, May 7. The Trojans followed their win against Littleton with another victory over Hudson on Friday, May 8, with a score of 14–3, solidifying their position as the number-one team in the Mid-Wach B League.
At the start of the season, the girls played Littleton on their home field, falling to the Tigers in overtime 11–10. Last season the only loss for the Trojans during the regular season was to this team. The rivalry between these two teams made the atmosphere at Thursday’s game very exciting.
The Trojan girls quickly found themselves behind in the May 7 game as Littleton scored two goals in the first few minutes. But they came fighting back and scored six goals in the first half, three by junior midfielder Sophia Turchetta. Additional Bromfield scorers in the first half were sophomore Meaghan Parlee and freshman attackers Cara Olejarz and Chandler Farley.
The Tigers scored seven goals in the first half, three by midfielder Alana Maher as well as two by midfielder Hayley Anderson. Midfielder Bridget Schofield and attacker Katie Young both added a point apiece to the score. The Tigers were up at the half 7–6.

Bromfield stepped on the pedal in the second half, scoring 11 more goals as Littleton added only two points to the score. Turchetta racked up another five goals against the Tigers, and Parlee scored an additional three. Olejarz scored her second goal of the game, and sophomore midfielder Kaeli Armstrong scored two for the Trojans to contribute to the victory as well.
Littleton was almost completely shut down by the Trojans in the second half as Bromfield took control of ground balls and draw controls, which are two key components to dominating the game. Bromfield’s senior goalie, Julia Hoggins, made eight saves to contribute to the Trojans’ win. The final two goals for Littleton were scored by Maher and Anderson.
Turchetta approaches state record
The Trojans’ lead scorer, Turchetta is on her way to beating former Westwood player Meredith Frank’s Massachusetts state record of 552 points. Turchetta passed her 500th point, which consists of goals and assists, in the April 27 game against Shrewsbury and already has more than 412 goals in her career as a Trojan. She will continue on her journey with the aim of beating the national record of 695 points (505 goals) held by Emily Garrity of Wallingford, Pennsylvania, by the time she graduates next spring.
The Trojans are now 11–1 as they continue toward the state tournament They face tough opponents in the coming weeks.
