Family Movie Night
The Harvard Public Library will host a PG-13 movie Friday, March 6, at 6:30 p.m. This recently released animated movie is about the friendship between a huge, inflatable robot and a high-tech prodigy. Popcorn and water will be served.
LEGO Expo
The Harvard Public Library will host a LEGO Exposition Saturday, March 7, at the library. Participants may bring constructions of their own design to share with others. Ages 3–5: 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Ages 6–8: 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Ages 9–12, 13–18, and adults: 12:30 to 1:15 p.m.
Winterfest at Fruitlands
Fruitlands Museum will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8, for sledding, skiing, and snowshoeing. The gift shop and art gallery will be open, too. (www.fruitlands.org)
Lecture on Landscape Paintings
Fruitlands Museum will present a lecture on Hudson River School landscape paintings Saturday, March 7, at 1 p.m. in the Wayside Visitors Center. Dr. David B. Dearinger of the Boston Athenæum will discuss the historical and artistic significance of this first school of American painting. Pillow-making Project
For her senior project, Bromfield student Lara Schmoyer will hold a pillow-making session Tuesday, March 10, from 3 to 6 p.m. in Volunteers Hall at the public library. Pillows will be donated to the UMass Memorial Medical Center for the benefit of cancer patients. An additional session will be held at the library Thursday, March 12, from 3 to 5 p.m.
State Representative Hogan at WBN Meeting
The Women’s Business Network will meet Thursday, March 12, at 7:15 p.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, 15 Still River Road. State Representative Kate Hogan of the 3rd Middlesex District will talk about specific topics related to women that are on the legislative docket. St. Patrick’s Day Pub Party
The Harvard General Store will host Pub Night with The Kelly Girls Friday, March 13. Music begins at 8 p.m.; food is available starting at 6:30 p.m. The event will feature Irish food and drink, door prizes, and Irish dancing lessons.
Warner Free Lecture
Jerry Bisantz will present clips from his film “Memories for Sale” and lead a discussion about morals in the publishing industry Friday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the library. The filmmaker, best known as a playwright and play producer, is also the founder of Image Theater in Lowell, where he is co-artistic director.
Radio Play at Library
The Harvard Friends of the Arts will present a radio-play version of “Arsenic and Old Lace” Saturday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the library. The dark comedy, made famous by the 1944 Frank Capra film, will star Helen Batchelder, Jim Breslauer, Didi Chadran, Tim Clark, Bob Eiland, Joe Hutchinson, Pamela Hill, Rich Steele, and Linda Vernalia. Harp, flute, piano, and organ featured at Concerts at the Common
Concerts at the Common will present a unique concert Sunday, March 15, at 4 p.m. at the Harvard Unitarian Universalist Church. Harpist Maria Rindenello-Parker joins Claire Rindenello on flute and Ted Johnson on piano and organ to perform dance music by Debussy, Grandjany, Jongen, and Ravel. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, and $15 for students under 18. Harvard students will be admitted free through a grant from the Harvard Schools Trust. Learn About Birds of Prey
WingMasters, a Western Massachusetts-based group dedicated to increasing appreciation of North American raptors, will bring five birds from its rehabilitative aviary to Wayside Visitors Center at Fruitlands Museum Sunday, March 15, from 1 to 2 p.m. Space is limited. Food for Thought Film Series
Fruitlands Museum will host the Werner Herzog documentary “Cave of Forgotten Dreams” Wednesday, March 18, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at 102 Prospect Hill Road. The film follows an exclusive expedition into the nearly inaccessible Chauvet Cave in France, home to the most ancient visual art known to have been created by humanity. Celebration 2015 Fundraiser
Celebration 2015, the town’s substance-free, post-prom party for Bromfield’s juniors and seniors, is a community-wide, volunteer effort. All are invited to participate in Celebration’s most important fundraiser to be held Friday, March 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Roche Brothers Supermarket, 387 Mass. Ave., Acton. The Harvard Schools Trust will hold its dinner-theater gala Saturday, March 21, starting with a performance of the student-written play “Lost and Soon Forgotten” at 6 p.m. at Bromfield’s Cronin Auditorium and followed by a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, dinner (with vegetarian option), and dessert at the Unitarian Church’s Fellowship Building. Girl Scout Sunday
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church will host an intergenerational service Sunday, March 8, at 10 a.m. at the church, 7 Faulkner Street, Ayer. All Girl Scouts are invited to attend in uniform and join the procession. Each participant will be given an official patch for attending. The purpose of this special day is to emphasize the Girl Scout Promise “On my honor, I will try to serve God.”
Snowshoe Hike
