A big round of applause to the Harvard PTO, which sponsored the event, our donors, and our student and community international ambassadors for bringing the Bromfield Ludo Festival 2014-15 to a successful outcome.
This year’s festival featured Africa, and we enjoyed drummers Issa Coulibaly and Zach Combs, from African Arts in Education & Crocodile River Music out of Clinton and Worcester, as well as Ms. Lorimer, former HES kindergarten teacher, who joined to offer African drumming and dance along with instruction to represent Mali. We honored Africa this year to acknowledge the continent’s unique struggle against the spread of Ebola, but we also had more than 20 additional countries represented from around the world.
Thanks go to the Bromfield administration for opening the doors of the school for the fifth annual international celebration. The Ludo Festival succeeds because of its volunteers and the heart and passion they show for their heritages. Special thanks to our student volunteer group, whose community service remains essential to the future of the festival. Our international raffle was organized this year by a single student and was a fabulous success. We thank all the families who donated items for this raffle. So many smiles by those who had a little of their evening travels wrapped up into a raffle winning!
It is such a celebration to have all this international heritage in our hometown. Thank you to all of our international community. Special thanks this year to senior Casey Russell and the National Arts Honor Society for the beautiful MLK banner now on display, as well as to our devoted multi-year returning ambassadors: the Young family, the AiDowd family, Naomi Yano, the Kommineni family, the Ramakrishnan family, the Wharton family, the Rasania family, the Zhao family, the Abouaf family and to all the other international families who came out to help this year. We also thank our donors: Sorrento’s Restaurant, Roche Brothers, BJ’s, and Trader Joe’s.
