Ted Morine and Duane Barber, both former Harvard water commissioners, were appointed to the newly formed Water System Study Committee by the Board of Selectmen at its Dec. 16 meeting. Morine, of Eldridge Road, served on the Water Commission in the 1990s and was also on the Water Study Committee in 1980 when the Bolton Road water storage tank was constructed. Morine works at Denis L. Maher Co. as a hydrogeologist and has served on Harvard’s Planning Board, Board of Health, Conservation Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, and as tree warden. Barber, of Oak Hill Road, served on Harvard’s Water Commission in the early 2000s and has been a longtime volunteer fireman. He is currently employed part time by Northrop Grumman Information Systems.
The selectmen also appointed Water Commissioner Kyle Hedrick as the third member of the committee. The committee’s first task is to provide an initial report on alternative water sources for Harvard town center to the Board of Selectmen by the 2015 Annual Town Meeting.
