Blood Donations
The American Red Cross is asking people to donate blood Friday, Nov. 7, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bromfield School. All blood types, especially O negative, A negative, and B negative, are needed now to help maintain a stable blood supply through the holiday season, which is a low donation time. Family Movie Night
The Harvard Public Library will host a PG-rated movie for all ages Friday, Nov. 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the library. This recent animated movie features a dog and his boy who like to time travel. Popcorn and water will be served. The library requests pre-registration. Call 978-456-2381.
Celtic Music at The General
The Harvard General Store will host Pub Night Friday, Nov. 7, upstairs at the General. The kitchen opens at 6 p.m., with beverages including wine and beer available for sale on the first floor. ‘Our Town’ at Bromfield
The Bromfield School drama department will present Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town” Friday, Nov. 7, and Saturday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the Bromfield School’s Cronin Auditorium. A matinee performance will be held Sunday, Nov. 9, at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door; the public is invited.
Learn to Access Digital Library Materials
The Harvard Public Library can help patrons in accessing digital books and magazines Saturday, Nov. 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and again on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. Bring your e-Reader, smartphone, or tablet to the library. Staff will be on hand to demonstrate and help you.
Veterans Day Open House
The Fort Devens Museum will host an open house in honor of Veterans Day Saturday, Nov. 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum, 94 Jackson Road, Devens. Presentations will take place at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2 p.m. At 11 a.m. Don Parker and David King will tell the story of how Fort Devens became the high school’s home for a time in 1983. The 12:30 p.m. program will focus on the African American Women’s Army Corps detachment strike in 1945, while the 2 p.m. program will feature stories from the Battle of the Bulge, which will be 70 years ago in December. Exhibits chronicling the history of Camp and Fort Devens are also on display. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Refreshments will be served, and a variety of prizes will be raffled off. Lacrosse Clinic
Harvard Youth Lacrosse will host a free lacrosse clinic for boys in grades 1 to 4 Saturday, Nov. 8, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the playing fields in front of the Bromfield School and the public library. All boys are invited to learn about lacrosse and further develop their skills in a no-pressure, fun environment with the HYL coaches and current under-9, under-11, and Bromfield team players. Art Exhibit Opening
The Center on the Common will host a reception to celebrate the opening of “Dreaming Nature: the Paintings of Irene Stapelford” Saturday, Nov. 8, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Center, 7 Fairbank St. The exhibit will be on display through Nov. 30. Hike on Harvard and Bolton Conservation Lands
The Harvard and Bolton Conservation commissions are co-sponsoring a three-hour, moderately paced hike through five miles of public land Sunday, Nov. 9, at 1 p.m. Participants will meet at the Bowers Springs parking lot at Flanagan Road in Bolton. The Harvard Conservation Commission’s Land Stewardship Subcommittee will lead the hike, which will highlight the inter-town linkages and combined conservation efforts that have resulted in a large protected area. The hike starts and finishes at Bowers Springs and will traverse some of the most beautiful protected places in the area, including Bolton’s Vaughn Hill and Harvard’s recent acquisition, the Hoch land. Hikers will also travel through the Harris land, some of which is owned by the Harvard Conservation Trust, and some by the Bolton Conservation Trust.
Oneness Blessing
The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden will host a Keeksha transformative blessing, open to all, Sunday, Nov. 9, from 3 to 5 p.m. at 145 Bolton Road. A $10 donation is requested.
Schools Trust Annual Meeting
The Harvard Schools Trust will hold its annual meeting Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. at the Bromfield School cable TV studio. Guest speaker is new HES Principal Sue Frederick. The public is invited.
Chamber Music: ‘Water Games’
The Worcester Chamber Music Society will present “Water Games,” an eclectic program of music by Crumb, Górecki, and Ravel Thursday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Harvard Unitarian Church. (Pre-concert talk at 7 p.m.) The featured work will be Vox Balanae (Voice of the Whale) by George Crumb. Women’s Business Network
The Women’s Business Network will host “Wine, Women, Wares & Song” Thursday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. Guests are welcome. Turkey Raffle
The Harvard Firefighters Association will host its traditional Turkey Raffle Friday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. at the fire station, behind Town Hall. The popular event raises funds for the firefighters’ training and community outreach programs, equipment purchases, and charities. Bring quarters to participate in one of the 30 rounds, each of which yields several winners. A variety of prizes, including almost 100 turkeys, will be given away. Those who cannot be at the event can buy tickets for a pre-event raffle at the Transfer Station on Saturday, or from any firefighter.

Bromfield senior Ariel Dwyer will lead a program for children in grades 2, 3, and 4 integrating art and literacy Saturday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. at the library. Los Sugar Kings in Concert
The Harvard Friends of the Arts will present Los Sugar Kings Saturday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the library. Jazz Concert at Healing Garden

Shaker Film Festival
The Boston Area Shaker Study Group will host a film festival Saturday, Nov. 22, at 1:15 p.m. at Volunteers Hall in the library. Special Performance of ‘Annie’
