I am pleased and excited to announce my candidacy for Harvard’s Board of Selectmen vacancy this November 4th. I have lived in Harvard over a decade and appreciate the wonderful neighbors and quality of life we all enjoy.
My professional background as an attorney has given me numerous contacts on Beacon Hill and critical thinking skills that will serve me well should I be elected. I have volunteered for most of my time in town as a member of the Community Preservation Committee, which gives grants to worthy town projects in the areas of historic preservation, open space, and affordable housing. As a member of the CPC I have worked cooperatively with numerous town commissions and organizations and learned about the wide variety of services they provide. I am committed to seeing that our town maintains its quality of life by drawing on the strengths of our volunteer committees.
I hope that readers will consider this letter a request for dialogue. What is your primary concern about town issues? Is it preserving our historic buildings, maintaining our excellent education system, resolving our discussions on Devens disposition? Do you have opinions about the appropriateness of municipal priorities and how the town develops its budget? If you do, I would love to hear from you. The selectmen can only be effective if they reflect the feelings of the voters.
