Michael Woolcock will present “Towards Global Peace, Justice and Prosperity: The Role (and Limits) of International Agencies” Saturday, Oct. 4, at 8 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Church, 435 Central St., Acton.
Woolcock is a social development specialist with the World Bank’s Development Research Group in Washington, D.C., and was also a lecturer in public policy at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. His published work spans fields ranging from history and law to institutional change and popular culture. His most recent focus is on strategies for building implementation capability and on approaches to assessing the impact of complex social interventions. He is a founder of the World Bank’s Justice for the Poor program, a multi-country program exploring constructive ways of reconciling state and non-state justice systems. Woolcock lives on Littleton Road with his wife Connie and children Jenn and Nathan.
