Rowing association thanks participants and supporters of Tour de Pond

September 26, 2014

The first annual Tour de Pond Regatta took place on Sunday, Sept. 21. A total of 27 competitors of all ages paddled and stroked their way around Bare Hill Pond in their vessels of choice. It was tremendous fun to see all manner of community paddlers and oars folk take on the challenge in boats ranging from racing singles to recreational singles, canoes and kayaks, and one classy dory captained by the family canine. Harvard participants included kayakers Bob Porter and Pablo and Carolyn Carbonell, rec singles competitors Charlie Carbonell and Pete Ginouves in youth and adult categories respectively, and Mike Taylor gamely rowing a dory around the course. A hotly contested canoe race featured Learn To Row coach Alison Thornton and friend and Bromfield alumni rowers, Conor Finnegan and Heidi Nocka.

BHRA appreciates the support of the Harvard harbor master, Harvard Parks & Rec, the Town of Harvard, and our donors and sponsors: the Harvard General Store, Bolton Orchards, Westward Orchards, Orange Leaf Acton, and Idylwilde Farm.

Let the tradition continue—360 days to go until Tour de Pond II.
