The Fourth of July Committee would like to thank all who came together to make this year’s celebration a wonderful event. A rain date was not originally part of our plan, but in the true “Spirit of Harvard,” we came together. In spite of limited resources, we were able to organize the rain date within 24 hours.
I want to especially thank this year’s Fourth of July Committee: Anne Hentz, chairman and fireworks; Sherry Graham, co-chair, parade coordinator and fireworks; Liz Ruark, field event coordinator; Sarah Von Conta, field event coordinator; Sue Voute, field event coordinator; Piali De, parade coordinator; Steve Piesch, parade helper; Erin Sintros, T-shirt sales; Susan Conners, T-shirt sales; Pat Jennings, antique car coordinator; Holly Grant, treasurer; Tracy Calabresi, bike decoration coordinator; Sandra Kimball, music coordinator for fireworks; and Joe Schmidt, parking coordinator. It’s the dedication and hours of volunteer time that make this event happen each year.
I wanted to give a shout out to Gavin Graham, Emma Shaw, Jenny Woodsum, and Theresa Philippe for standing in the rain to help collect money at Fruitlands. A very special thank you goes to Joe Schmidt and Bob Kinnee, who stepped in when we needed them the most and found a great crew of people to park cars at the event. Looking forward to next year, and remember we always need help.
