Summer story times
Drop-in for infants to age 2: The Harvard Public Library will offer a summer edition of its “Mother Goose on the Loose” story time program at 10:30 a.m. on Thursdays, July 10 through Aug. 7. The program is an early literacy program that uses rhymes and songs to help children get ready for reading. It incorporates music, movement, ritual, repetition, positive reinforcement, developmental tips, nursery rhymes, illustrations, puppets, musical instruments, colored scarves, and book reading into a fun-filled, 45-minute session for infants to 2-year-olds and caregivers. Older siblings are also welcome.
- Sign up for ages 2 and 3: A six-week summer session of story time for toddlers, ages 2 to 3, will be offered at the library. The 25-minute interactive sessions will be held on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. from July 7 to August 11. Registration is required; call the Children’s Room at 978-456-2381.
- Sign up for ages 4 to 7: The library will also offer a six-week session of “Art and Stories” for children ages 4, 5, and older. The 45-minute sessions will be offered on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. from July 8 to August 12. Each session begins with longer picture book stories and ends with an art project that encourages preschoolers to explore art materials in an open-ended, creative manner.
Summer hours at library
Library patrons are reminded that the library is closed on Fridays and closes at 2 p.m. on Saturdays during the months of July and August. Regular Friday hours, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will resume in the fall.
Beach parking lot reminder
With the town beach in full swing with daily swimming and boating lessons, Beach Director Alexandra Luck wants to remind residents of several important policies.
All resident vehicles parked at the town beach parking lot must have a beach parking sticker or day pass. Beach stickers are $40, or $25 for seniors. Resident cars without stickers can buy a day pass at the beach for $10 for a vehicle or $25 for a vehicle with a trailer.
Nonresidents can purchase a day pass only if they are launching a boat or if they are guests of a resident; the resident must accompany the guest.
As always, there is no fee for using the beach if you walk or bike to the pond.
