On the road with the COA
Call the Council on Aging office at 978-456-4120 to sign up for a trip. Trips can fill up quickly; call soon to reserve a spot.
- Tuesday, July 29: The COA will attend “Yankee Homecoming” in the charming coastal town of Newburyport. Shops will be celebrating their annual event, “Market Square Day,” with sidewalk sales and a juried craft show. Lunch will be at Michael’s Harborside Restaurant, known for its beautiful water view of the Merrimack River and delicious seafood. The van will leave Hildreth House at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $10, plus the cost of lunch.
- Wednesday, August 13: Join the COA for a 75-minute sunset cruise on the Charles River, preceded by dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. The bus will leave Hildreth House at 2 p.m. for the Cambridge Side Galleria Mall for an early dinner, followed by a walk to the dock for the 5:30 p.m. departure of the river boat. The cruise lasts 75 minutes; participants are likely to be back in Harvard at about 8 p.m. The cost of this trip is $25, plus the cost of the meal.
Work Camp is coming to Harvard
During the week of June 30 through July 3, the Catholic Heart Work Camp will be in Harvard to help seniors with yard and other household projects. Seniors are invited to let these students and adults from all around the country help them, whether it be a one-day or a four-day project. The camp can help with projects such as yard cleanup, painting, stacking wood, organizing, and minor construction. To receive help, seniors must sign up by the first week of June by calling the COA at 978-456-4120.
