Anne McWaters has a lifelong dedication to recreation, dating back to her days playing sports at Bromfield; as a student manager for the Duke University men’s basketball team; and then professionally for the Duke and Missouri basketball teams. Once back in Harvard, Anne has continued her commitment by volunteering her time for the Parks and Recreation Commission over the past four years. Anne has spearheaded many positive initiatives in this role, including creating Mom & Tot swim lessons, opening a free-swim area for use during morning lessons, and creating a community beach toy box, all of which allow more families to enjoy our town’s wonderful beach and pond. Anne’s efforts have improved the Harvard Park playground at McCurdy Track by prioritizing funds and coordinating a massive effort to spread nearly a foot of much needed woodchips so our children can play more safely. In her current role on Parks and Rec, Anne is working on improving the playground at the pond and adding new equipment to the Harvard Park playground.
She is also committed to working with seniors to ensure that Harvard’s recreational amenities remain convenient, safe, and accessible. Anne’s experience makes her uniquely aware of the effort needed to protect and preserve the diverse recreation opportunities that fall under Parks and Rec’s auspices. Anne is genuinely committed to helping each and every resident get the most out of their leisure time, and therefore is the best candidate for re-election to Parks and Rec.
