Ann Mitchell, 59, passed away peacefully in St. Augustine, Fla., on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, after a brave and courageous battle with leukemia, surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born to Joseph and Mary (Fanning) Mitchell on July 4, 1954, in Clinton, Mass. Ann attended the Bromfield School before attending Mount Wachusett Community College where she studied communications. In 1995, Ann moved to St. Augustine, Fla., where she was the manager of the St. Augustine Yacht Club for several years. She enjoyed dancing and singing and was a great performer. Ann lit up the stage in several performances while in Massachusetts, following in both her father’s and her Aunt Dolly Conger’s footsteps.

She was dedicated to caring for her family and was always a source of comfort, light, and love to those around her. Ann’s sparkling personality, gift of humor, selflessness, and generosity will never be forgotten. In the last 10 years, Ann was dedicated to the care of her brother Joseph.

She will be greatly missed by her family. Ann is survived by her mother, Mary Mitchell; her sisters Mary Ellen Besnia, Martina Sullivan, and Sarah Mitchell; her brothers Joseph and James Mitchell; her nieces Rachel, Katelyn, Amanda, Patrice, and Meaghan; and her great-nephew Grant. A memorial Mass was held at St. Anastasia Catholic Church on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, in St. Augustine, Fla. A private burial in Clinton, Mass. will be held in the spring. A glittering celebration of her life will be held after her burial, with the date and time to be announced.
