Trojan swimmers and divers victorious over Nashoba

January 31, 2014

The Bromfield Swim and Dive team finished its dual meet season with a decisive 93-80 win against Nashoba last Friday. This contributed to an overall season win-loss record of 10-3.

The team proved its depth by sweeping the 200-yard individual medley, the 1-meter diving competition, and the 100-yard and 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke races. The relay teams also excelled, placing first in all three of their events.

The meet was also filled with personal bests, with many swimmers getting their best times this season.

Up next: League and division meets

As the season draws to a close, the Trojans are preparing for their league meets, and those who qualify will go on to the sectionals and state meets. These three meets are particularly competitive for Bromfield. For the first time in the season, the events are segregated into boys against boys and girls against girls, allowing for even more competition.

The divers will go on to dive at the league dive meet on Wednesday at Greater Lowell Technical School, and the swimmers will swim at the league meet on Thursday at Tantasqua Regional High School.

The girls sectional meet will be held Feb. 8 at Wellesley College, and the boys sectional meet will be held Feb. 9 at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. The Trojans will be competing in the state meet Feb. 15 for girls at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Feb. 16 for boys, also at MIT.
