Jimmy Nigzus, the son of Colleen and Charlie Nigzus of Prospect Hill Road, was recently promoted to Seaman, E3, as a member of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps and was awarded Academic Achievement and Community Service ribbons. Seaman Nigzus is a member of the Joseph P. Kennedy Division based in Fall River. Over the Christmas break, Seaman Nigzus attended the Petty Officer Leadership Academy at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, R.I. According to its website, the mission of the Sea Cadet Corps is to train young people between the ages of 11 and 17 in “seagoing skills, and to teach them patriotism, courage, self-reliance and kindred virtues.”
