and Matthew Alfieri were part of the team—the eighth-grade Nashoba Chiefs—that won the state championship by beating Needham 28-0 last Sunday. The team, which is part of the American Youth Football League, has won five superbowls and four state championships in a row. They will play in the Northeast regional semifinals on Sunday, Nov. 17. The team will disband after this year as the boys move on to high school.
Michael is the son of Lynn and Michael Thornton of Mill Road; Matthew is the son of Kelly and Michael Alfieri of Lancaster County Road.
