No changes to boat storage in 2014
The Parks and Recreation Commission voted to keep boat storage at Bare Hill Pond in roughly the same configuration next year as it was this fall. Commission members voted 3-2 to require crew boats to be stored in the upper parking lot. According to minutes of the meeting, most canoe and kayak racks will remain close to the water, with “a couple” being moved into the woods.
WWI flagpole: To fund or not to fund?
The commission discussed asking for Community Preservation Act funds to restore the concrete base of the World War I memorial flagpole and to repaint the pole. Member Joe Schmidt is looking into the possibility of a solar-powered light so that the flag would be lit at night, as required by protocol.
