Search begins for next elementary school principal
The hunt will soon be on for a new principal to replace Dr. Linda Dwight at the Hildreth Elementary School as Dwight prepares to move up to superintendent.
The responsibility for hiring Dwight’s replacement falls to interim Superintendent Joe Connelly, who presented a tentative schedule for the search to the School Committee on Monday. Connelly proposed forming a 10-member search committee and advertising the vacancy in early November. There is no point in starting sooner, he said, because school administrators generally do not want to make public their interest in leaving their current districts until later in the school year.
According to the proposed schedule, the deadline for applications would be January 3, 2014, with finalists chosen by the end of that month. If all goes as planned, Connelly would be able to announce Hildreth’s new principal on Feb. 10, 2014.
