U.S. Rep. Tsongas, contituents oppose Syrian intervention

As with virtually every other district in the country, the majority of those who have contacted Third Congressional District representative Niki Tsongas are opposed to a military strike in Syria. Spokesperson Michael Hartigan told the Press this week that between Aug. 29 and Sept. 9 Tsongas had received 1,087 correspondences (phone calls, emails and letters) from constiuents regarding Syria. Fifteen were from residents of Harvard. In a statement released by her office on Sept. 9, Tsongas said, “If a vote were to be held today, I would not support U.S. military intervention in Syria. I will continue to support the President’s efforts to partner broadly with the international community to seek diplomatic alternatives.”

The Third Congressional District includes 36 cities and towns with a population of approximately 735,500 people.
