Salter: I omitted logic from my criteria for effective local democracy

September 13, 2013

Last week’s Consider This stressed the importance of knowing the “back story” to be eligible to discuss Parks and Rec’s decision about BHRA. Yet it provided none of that essential background, thereby leaving uninitiated readers (like me) unqualified for the debate. This illustrates another requirement for local democracy: use of logic. With neither facts nor logic, as we see, we get only gibberish or special pleading.
