Gov. Patrick signs Harvard home-rule legislation
State Senator Jamie Eldridge and Representative Jennifer Bensen announced last week that Governor Deval Patrick has signed legislation that will permit Harvard to place its Council on Aging director on the Elderly and Disabled Taxation Committee, regardless of non-residency. The home rule petition to change Harvard’s bylaws was approved at Town Meeting this past April. Current COA director Deborah Thompson is a resident of southern New Hampshire.
