It’s the start of harvest season, when Harvard’s farms begin to yield their bounty of local produce. Here’s what’s available this week at five local farmstands.


Carlson Orchards, 115 Oak Hill Road

Yellow peaches, yellow nectarines, Ginger Gold apples.


Doe Orchards, 327 Ayer Road

Peaches, Gravenstein and Ginger Gold apples, sunflowers and dahlias available most days.


Old Frog Pond Farm, 38 Eldridge Road (opening Aug. 28)

Certified organic potatoes and other vegetables, pick your own organic Williams Pride and Macintosh apples.


Westward Orchards, 178 Mass Ave

Yellow and white peaches, nectarines, plums, pears, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, peppers, cucumbers, heirloom and cherry tomatoes, cabbage, beans, kale, summer squash, zucchini.

Willard’s Farmstand, 218 Still River Road

Tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet and hot peppers, Red Norland potatoes (red), Kennebec potatoes (white), sunflowers.
