Brooks resigns
In a letter this week to the Town Clerk, longtime Planning Board member Peter Brooks resigned his position, which was due to expire in 2014. This leaves the board with two vacancies: one for a full member to replace Brooks, and the other for an associate member.
ZBA gets advice on pond-side construction
In response to a request from the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA), the board weighed in on a proposal by landowners at 37 Peninsula Road to tear down and rebuild a 1950’s-era home. Tim Schmoyer had visited the site and reported his findings at the meeting. In its re-built form, the home would be closer to the pond and to the road, but the board decided that this “non-conforming, lawful” house would not “negatively affect the neighborhood.” The board agreed to pass this opinion on to the ZBA, which will decide whether to grant the special permit. (The ZBA will discuss the matter at its June 12 meeting).
Board attends to business on Master Plan, town planner
Joe Hutchinson reported that Lucy Wallace and Didi Chadron volunteered to join the newly re-formed Master Plan Steering Committee. After discussing the required protocol for such appointments, the board agreed to request letters of recommendation from the BOS (Wallace) and Community Preservation Committee (Chadron).
The board discussed its ongoing revision of a job description for a town planner, who would work on both the Master Plan and general planning. When the job description is finalized, the board will issue a Request For Proposal (RFP) for the job and the town will begin advertising for the position. Members spoke of issuing the RFP in June or July.
Town Hall site plan soon to be finalized
Discussion of the Town Hall site plan was confined to a brief comment by chairman Kara Minar. “We’ll be able to sign off on that next week, I think,” she said, referring to several conditions previously set on the plan.
