Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area public meeting
Freedom’s Way Heritage Association is preparing a management plan to guide its activities, programs, and goals to 2023 and beyond. When Congress designated the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area, the legislation identified 12 critical elements of the final management plan. Considering public input one of the most important elements, Freedom’s Way has been holding meetings to hear views and opinions from the public, as the association develops ways to fulfill its mission.
The next public meeting will be Saturday, June 22, from noon to 4 p.m. at Lawrence Barn, 28 Depot Road in Hollis, New Hampshire. The first hour will be an open house—an opportunity to learn more about Freedom’s Way and its management plan. Following the open house will be conversations about the history, mission, themes, resources, goals, and actions of Freedom’s Way. Public input is important and welcomed. Community Education has summer offerings
Harvard Community Education is offering several summer programs by townspeople and teachers, including Ultimate Frisbee, Summer Adventure, Gymnastics, Harvard Hoops Basketball, Engineering with Legos, Art around the World, Jump Start Field Hockey, and Tennis. The tennis program is offered by Parks and Recreation and registration is through Community Education. Free ACT/SAT comparison tests
Rising high school juniors: unsure whether to take the SAT, ACT, or both? Shortened versions of both tests will be given Saturday, June 22, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Monday, July 15, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. to allow students to see which one they do better on. Transfer station permits expire June 30
Time is running out on current transfer station permits. New permits for July 2013 through June 2014 can be purchased Monday through Thursday at Town Hall or by sending a self-addressed envelope to Finance Department, 13 Ayer Road, Harvard, MA 01451-1458, Attn: transfer station stickers. Permits purchased by June 30 are $235; from July 1 to July 31, $260; and August 1 and after, $290.
Permits for seniors—65 or older before June 30—are $25. Rules, regulations, and more information may be found at www.harvard.ma.us.
