Harvard fifth- and sixth-graders competed at the Math Olympiad Elite tournament in Marlborough last weekend. The event was attended by over 100 competitors in grades four through six from as far away as New Hampshire. The competition lasted almost five hours and featured an individual round, a team competition, and an exciting tiebreaker phase. Participating from Hildreth Elementary School were fifth-graders Tom Khuu, Allie Hunter, Meenu Ramakrishnan, Rachel Shrives, Raiya Suliman, Nicholas Thornton, and Liza Toll. The Bromfield team, composed of sixth graders Caeden Bishop, Yohan Kumarasinghe, Vito Montesa, Kate Selig, and Kevin Yu, earned third place out of 20 participating teams. Both Yu and Kumarasinghe qualified for the finals with a perfect 10 on their individual competition segment. Yu won the tiebreaker round to take overall first place at the competition.
