MART shuttle to Boston
Many residents are familiar with Harvard’s MART van, which provides transportation for Council on Aging trips, medical appointments, shopping excursions, and other outings. But few may be aware that MART (Montachusett Regional Transit Authority) runs a shuttle from Devens into Boston and back three times a day and that military veterans ride free with proper identification. The service runs Monday through Friday except for holidays. Full fare to Boston for nonveteran adults is $12 each way; elderly and disabled riders pay $10 each way.
The shuttle starts in Fitchburg and stops at the Devens campus of Mount Wachusett Community College at 7:55 a.m., 12:25 p.m., and 3:25 p.m. After a guaranteed stop at the Rte2/495 Littleton train station, the shuttle goes to Emerson Hospital, the Bedford VA hospital, the Alewife T station, Metro Boston/major hospitals, and the West Roxbury VA hospital on demand. Then it returns to Alewife, Emerson, and the Littleton train depot before stopping at Devens on its way back to Fitchburg at 9:50 a.m., 2:20, and 5:20 p.m.

On the road with COA
- Friday, June 7, Boston Public Library and Trinity Church tour. The COA will attend a noon organ recital at Trinity Church and then have lunch at a restaurant across the street. Attendees will leave Hildreth House at 9 a.m. and return by 3 p.m. The cost for the trip is $10 plus lunch. This event was rescheduled from April. Anyone who signed up for the earlier date should reconfirm by calling the COA, 978-456-4120.
Catholic Heart Work Camp
Student groups led by adults from the Catholic Heart Work Camp will be available the week of the July 4 holiday to assist with home projects, inside or outside: yard work, painting, cleaning, and small building projects.
