The ambulance transported a male resident of Poor Farm Road to Emerson Hospital at 8:20 a.m. The animal control officer was called at 9:40 a.m. to deal with a dead animal near the intersection of Littleton County Road and Whitney Lane. A resident of Old Littleton Road stopped by the public safety building at 11:10 a.m. to advise police of a dispute between a landlord and a tenant. About 1 p.m. police investigated an accident at the intersection of Old Littleton and Pinnacle roads. The male driver reported that loose papers inside the car had flown into his face, causing him to veer to the right and strike a tree. There were no other occupants in the car. Fire and ambulance were called, but the driver declined treatment. The car was towed. No citations were issued. A woman called at 2:18 p.m. from Prospect Hill to report she had locked herself out of her car. Police were able to gain access, and the caller went on her way. At 3:36 p.m., a resident brought a cell phone found near West Bare Hill Road to the station. The phone has not yet been claimed. Police investigated a collision between a motor vehicle and a deer on Massachusetts Avenue at 6:13 p.m. There were no injuries to the single male occupant, but the deer had to be put down by the animal control officer, who had been summoned to the scene.
Wednesday, May 22
Around 6 a.m., the ambulance transported a female resident of Ayer Road to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. The parent of a Bromfield student called at 2:45 p.m. to report that the car her daughter had driven to school that morning had been vandalized in the Bromfield School parking lot. The car had been “keyed” and its hood ornament stolen, causing more than $1,000 in damages. The incident was reported to the Bromfield School administration and though the police have no suspects, they are continuing to investigate. Around 4 p.m., a 911 caller alerted the police to a hit-and-run accident on Littleton Road. A red pick-up truck had crossed over the center line striking a utility pole and splitting it in half. A second eyewitness was able to provide the plate number of the vehicle, which the Harvard police pursued into Littleton. A Harvard officer located the suspect, who was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, driving to endanger, failure to stay within marked lanes, and speeding. Verizon was contacted and the damaged pole replaced.
Thursday, May 23
A woman came to the station at 11:06 a.m. to speak to police on a matter involving a child. At 11:43 the ambulance transported a female patient to Emerson Hospital. A concerned resident called police around 1 p.m. to report a suspicious vehicle on Park Lane. It was determined to belong to a landscaper hired to cut a neighbor’s grass. At 2 p.m. a resident stopped by to request a copy of a police report. A passing motorist called police at 8:45 p.m. to report that a fire was blazing in a field on Old Littleton Road. Police and fire responded and discovered it was fueled in part by a propane tank, whose valve was open and which contained “quite a bit” of unburned fuel. Police have identified two suspects and questioned one. Officer John Coates said both police and fire were taking the matter “very seriously” since the tank could have exploded causing serious injury to an approaching officer or fireman. Suspects could be charged with use of an incendiary device and intent to injure property or persons, both of which are felonies. The matter is still under investigation by both the police and fire departments, and no further information was available.
Friday, May 24
A male resident of Stow Road was transported by the ambulance to Emerson Hospital at around 4 a.m. A resident of Green Hill Road called at 12:01 p.m. to make police aware of a suspicious phone solicitation that had been received. At 12:29 p.m. a Deport Road resident reported smoke in the area. An officer investigated and determined that a neighbor was burning materials with a permitted fire. At 4:52 p.m. a passer-by on West Bare Hill Road reported overhearing a heated verbal disagreement. At 4:56 p.m., a resident called to say that a sandwich board advertising an upcoming showing of the movie “Girl Rising” had gone missing from its place on the Common. The sign has yet to be found. At 5:05 p.m. police responded to a report of a domestic dispute on Littleton Road. Peace was restored.
Saturday, May 25
A resident jogging in the Shaker Conservation area called at 1:51 p.m. to report finding a golf cart from the Shaker Hills golf course stuck on a wooden foot bridge at the foot of Holy Hill. Later, at around 4:40, a second resident spotted two teenagers trying to remove the vehicle from the bridge and called police. Police later located one of the suspects near Simon Atherton Road. Two teens are now under investigation, but no charges have yet been made. Two weeks ago, Shaker Hills reported that two golf carts had been stolen and the following week the club reported two more were missing. Each vehicle is valued at $5,000. The matter had been under investigation by the Ayer police, which has jurisdiction over the area where the vehicles are stored.
Sunday, May 26
A male resident of Old Schoolhouse Road was transported to Emerson Hospital around 3:12 p.m. At 5:28 p.m. police were advised by a cell phone caller that a car was being driven erratically near the Route 2 and Ayer Road highway interchange. An officer investigated but found nothing.
