Beginner’s luck or something else? Oak Hill Road resident Marc Vilain, a home-brewer for only nine months, won two of three categories in Colonial Spirits of Acton’s Home-brew Competition last weekend. Vilain’s Tirpel stood out in the Belgian category, and his Translantique won among the IPAs.
Colonial Spirits customers had the opportunity to taste and vote for their favorites from a selection of finalists.
Acknowledging that his technical skills might not match other home-brewers, Vilain attributes his success to his interest in home cooking and advice he got from Chef Paul: “Go by taste.”
