Annual boat lottery
The 2013 annual boat lottery for moorings and canoe and kayak rack space at the town beach is now open for registration until Monday, April 1, at noon. Winners will be randomly selected at the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting on April 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the old library.
Registration is open only to Harvard residents, and only one entry per household is allowed. Duplicates will be removed before the lottery is held. No preference is given to any particular individuals or group of individuals. The commission will try to accommodate requests for a desired location from individuals with special needs but cannot guarantee that all requests will be met. Payment is not needed before the selection, but a $20 payment is required before a sticker will be sent.
Revised employee verification form required
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has published a revised Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 for immediate use. According to a recent USICS press release, employers should begin using the revised form for new employees but do not need the updated form for current employees if a properly completed Form I-9 is already on file. After May 7, 2013, only the revision, Form I-9 03/08/13 N, will be accepted. The form and instructions may be found at www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-9.pdf.
Bereavement support groups
Nashoba Nursing Service and Hospice offers bereavement support groups open to all adults who are experiencing loss due to the death of a loved one.
- Hazen Public Library, Shirley, second Tuesday of each month, 12:30 to 2 p.m.
- Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Ayer, second Tuesday of each month, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
- Townsend Council on Aging, third Tuesday of each month, 1 to 2:30 p.m.
- Thayer Memorial Library, Lancaster, second Thursday of each month, 1 to 2:30 p.m.
- Littleton Council on Aging, third Thursday of each month, 1 to 2:30 p.m.
