At 7:14 a.m. a caller reported that a car had gone off the road at Codman Hill and Stow roads. The car was gone when police arrived to investigate. A woman called the station at 8:04 a.m. to report that her son’s car had gone off the roadway on Littleton Road. Police say the driver was not injured, but the car required a tow. A caller reported at 4:16 p.m. that there was a car parked behind Dunkin’ Donuts, and the occupants—a woman and two children—appeared to be sleeping. Police say a babysitter had taken the children for a ride, hoping to get them to sleep. She told police the children fell asleep and she didn’t want to wake them, so she parked the car, then fell asleep herself.
Wednesday, Jan. 30
A 911 call came in from a cell phone at 4:04 a.m., reporting an accident in Harvard. Police say the accident actually took place in Lancaster; Lancaster police were notified. At 1:52 p.m. a Still River Road resident called to report that, the previous day, two men in a white pickup truck had come to the door saying they were selling frozen meat and fish at 5:01 p.m. The ambulance responded to a medical call and transported a man from a Brown Road residence to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. At 8:14 p.m. a caller reported that a high school student was missing from a group of students who had gone on a ski trip to Wachusett Mountain. Police say that, after some investigation, they found that the student had told the chaperone she had a ride with someone she knew, and was allowed to leave the bus. Westminster police, who have jurisdiction over the Wachusett Mountain area, later located the girl skiing with a youth counselor from a Harvard church.
Thursday, Jan. 31
The Ayer Fire Department requested assistance from the Harvard Fire Department in covering their station at 7:28 p.m., while they responded to a fire call. A woman called the station at 10:19 p.m. to report some suspicious activity on her property.
Friday, Feb. 1
The ambulance crew responded to a medical call at 1:30 p.m. and took a woman from a Houghton Lane residence to Leominster Hospital. A man called at 2:58 p.m. to report that he had accidentally hit the stop sign at the General Store, knocking it over. He told police there was no damage to his car. Police notified the Department of Public Works to restore the sign to its proper position. At 9:53 p.m. a woman stopped at the station to report that her car had almost been hit by another car on Route 2.
Saturday, Feb. 2
At 1:42 a.m. police and fire officers responded to a call at the Oak Ridge Observatory on Pinnacle Road. The call was triggered by a faulty alarm. At 5:29 a.m. police and fire officers responded to an alarm at the Bromfield School. Police say there was a smell of smoke, but the area was checked and no source was found for the smell. The ambulance responded to a medical call at 1:52 a.m. and transported a woman to UMass Medical Center in Worcester. Answering another medical call at 9:17 a.m., the ambulance took a woman from St. Benedict’s Abbey to Emerson Hospital. A man was taken to Emerson Hospital by ambulance at 7:18 p.m.
Sunday, Feb. 3
Littleton police called the Harvard station at 10:02 a.m. and asked them to check the bridges in town for a woman whom they believed could be suicidal. Police say no such woman was found in Harvard. The ambulance took a woman from a Candleberry Lane residence to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 6:35 p.m. A fire officer responded to a call at a Westcott Road home at 6:46 p.m. and discovered that a burned pizza in the oven had set off a smoke detector.
Monday, Feb. 4
At 5:41 p.m. Harvard police were called to assist Boxborough police with a motor vehicle stop.
