At 12:30 p.m. the ambulance took a woman to Emerson Hospital from a residence on Under Pin Hill Road. At 3:07 p.m. a woman stopped at the police station to report a possible fraud attempt. She told police she had received a phone call from someone claiming to be her grandson, saying that he was in Ecuador and needed some money. She became suspicious and did not send the funds, but she gave the caller’s phone number to police, who found that the call had originated in Canada. No one answered when police tried to call the number, according to Officer Daniele Fortunato. At 11:15 p.m. a Prospect Hill Road resident reported seeing a man staring through her window. Police checked the area and brought in a dog from the K-9 team to check the grounds. Fortunato told the Press that the dog seemed to pick up a scent and tracked it for a short distance, but then lost it. She said police could find no conclusive evidence that someone had been there.
Wednesday, Jan. 16
An officer on patrol stopped to investigate a car parked in the Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot at 2:09 a.m. and found two people in the vehicle talking. At 2:28 a.m. an officer on patrol stopped at the Department of Public Works to investigate an open door at the storage shed. The officer secured the door and left a note for the DPW. At 9:56 a.m. a Bolton Road resident reported that a car coming from West Bare Hill Road had swerved onto his property, almost hitting him, and then swerved into a utility pole. The resident spoke to the driver, also from Harvard, who had two children with him in the car. The driver said he was not injured and was able to drive away from the scene. However, according to the Bolton Road resident, the car was seriously damaged, and there was damage to the utility pole. Police located the driver of the car and issued him a summons to appear in court on charges of speeding, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and driving to endanger. At 8 p.m. a driver on Route 2 made a 911 call to report that he was experiencing chest tightness. Harvard EMTs and fire personnel were dispatched to the scene. When they arrived, the caller refused treatment.
Thursday, Jan. 17
At 8:54 a.m. police stopped a car at Mass. Ave. and Slough Road and gave the driver a verbal warning for impeded operation of a car. Police say the car was covered with snow, except for a small area on the front windshield that had been cleared for the driver to see through. The ambulance transported a man to Emerson Hospital from an Ayer Road address at 10:39 a.m. At 11:38 a.m. someone stopped at the station seeking information about drinking and driving. At 12:25 p.m. police notified the State Department of Public Works that Mass. Ave. needed to be treated for slippery conditions. At 3:07 p.m. a Mill Road resident called to report a suspicious-looking car parked on the side of the road. Police determined it belonged to someone who lived down the street.
Friday, Jan. 18
Harvard police were asked to provide backup at a motor vehicle stop in Boxborough at 2:10 a.m.
Saturday, Jan. 19
A Mettacomet Path resident called the station at 9:45 a.m. to report that mailboxes on that road had been vandalized. Police found that five mailboxes had been struck and dented with a hard object. At 9:48 a.m. a man stopped at the station to report he had struck a deer while driving on Still River Road, near Willard Lane. He asked an officer to help him search for the animal, in case it had to be euthanized, but the deer was not found. The driver’s car sustained more than $1,000 in damage from the incident. An officer stopped to investigate a car parked on Ayer Road near Old Mill Road at 3:16 p.m. and discovered that the driver had pulled over to urinate. The officer advised him to move along.
Sunday, Jan. 20
At 1:44 p.m. a woman called to report seeing an open door at the Inn. Police checked, but found nothing out of order and secured the building.
Monday, Jan. 21
A Littleton Road resident called at 11:24 a.m. to report that someone had broken into her home. (See story) At 8:30 p.m. a caller notified police that his car had skidded into a mailbox on West Bare Hill Road. He said he would contact the resident about replacing the box, police say. At 10:38 p.m. Boxborough police called for assistance in locating a vehicle in their town.
