Thanks to the residents of Harvard and in no small part Mother Nature, the Bromfield-Acton-Boxborough rowing team’s inaugural “Rent-A-Rower” leaf raking fundraiser was a tremendous success! Over 75 rowers and 20 rowing parent “supervisors” raked leaves for a total of 54 hours at 39 Harvard homes this past weekend. Rowers also dedicated additional community service hours to several homeowners in need. The project provided the athletes with the opportunity to work for equipment they will use in seasons to come. In addition, it gave them a sense of pride, accomplishment, and satisfaction in what they could contribute to their community.
We thank the many Harvard community members who hired our rowers, Dennis Lyddy, the Harvard Veterans agent, and Deborah Thompson at the Council on Aging, who promoted our efforts, as well as all of our athletes and parents who supported this effort.
We plan to be back again next year!
