Girl Scouts Mitten Tree
The Harvard Girl Scouts continue their tradition of helping others this holiday season with the Mitten Tree. The tree will be in the children’s room of the Harvard Public Library from Monday, Nov. 26, through Monday, Dec. 10. The Girl Scouts encourage everyone to stop by and decorate the tree with a new pair of gloves or mittens (adult and child sizes). The mittens will be taken to Loaves & Fishes food pantry in time for its “Shop for Your Kids Day.” For more information, call Liz Hawkes at 978-456-8358.
Help buy wreaths for veterans
Rollstone Bank & Trust recently donated $1,500 to the Winchendon Wreath program, part of Wreaths Across America. The goal of the program is to adorn every veteran’s grave with a wreath for the holidays.
In addition to the bank’s donation, it is also holding a fundraiser in its branches through the month of November. A wreath costs $10, and the group needs to raise approximately $6,500 more in order to have a wreath for each soldier that has been laid to rest in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. Donations for the Winchendon Wreath Project can be made at any Rollstone Bank location or mailed to P.O. Box 2342, Fitchburg, MA 01420. Any amount is welcome.
Rollstone Bank has branch locations in Fitchburg, Leominster, Harvard, and Townsend, plus a loan and financial services center in Worcester.
