Former Harvard resident, had career in information technology

Craig F. McDermott Sr., 51, of Franklin died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at the Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Mercedes (Pirez) McDermott for 31 years.

Born in Boston on May 21, 1961, McDermott was the son of Virginia (Demers) McDermott of Gilford, N.H., and the late Donald O. McDermott Sr.

McDermott grew up in the Hyde Park section of Boston and lived in Harvard until moving to Franklin in 2006.

He graduated from Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood and the University of Massachusetts Boston with a Bachelor’s Degree in management information systems.

McDermott was a director at Keane, Inc., in Boston for five years and was formerly the chief technology officer at Systems Engineering, Inc. in Waltham.

A very giving man, Craig was a loving father and husband and his family was most important to him.

Besides his wife and mother, McDermott is survived by three children, Crystal, Craig Jr., and Marc McDermott, all of Franklin, and his brother Donald McDermott Jr. of Hingham.

His funeral was at the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin on Wednesday, Nov. 7, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin.
