Interested in PV solar?
Following last week’s Town Meeting votes that authorized solar on an out-of-the-way C-District property, Harvard Solar Gardens will begin construction shortly. Those who are considering owning a share should bring a recent electric bill and stop by the Harvard Press office on the third floor of the General Store on Saturday, Sept. 8, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Fellow solar gardeners will be on hand to discuss details.

Harvard Cultural Council accepting grant applications and new members
The Harvard Cultural Council is accepting applications for Local Cultural Council grants to support programs that bring cultural activity to the community and is also looking for new members. Organizations, schools, and individuals with proposals for community-oriented arts, humanities, and science projects are encouraged to submit applications.
Applications are available at the Harvard Town Library or online at www.massculturalcouncil.org. Submissions must be postmarked by Oct. 15 and returned to the Harvard Cultural Council, PO Box 110, Harvard, MA 01451. Mentors are available to help anyone wishing assistance with the process.
New Harvard Cultural Council members are always welcome to help further the arts in Harvard through the Harvard Cultural Council. Members must be residents of Harvard.

Last year, the Harvard Cultural Council awarded 14 grants, totaling $4,000. This year, $3,870 is available to fund grant awards.
Harvard Pro Musica welcomes new singers
Join the Harvard Pro Musica Chorus for its 43rd year of interesting and rewarding classical music. Weekly Tuesday rehearsals begin on Sept. 11, at the Harvard Unitarian Universalist Church and run from 7:30 to 9:45 p.m. The Dec. 1 concert will feature Benjamin Britten’s “Ceremony of Carols” for harp, soloist, and mixed chorus, and will also include works by Des Pres, Isaac, Palestrina, Monteverdi, Schutz, George, and Whitacre. All voice parts are invited. No audition is necessary.
The group’s director, Dr. Mark Bennett, is an experienced conductor, performer, and educator and is also a choral clinician and adjudicator. The accompanist, Susan Minor, accompanies a number of local choral groups, in addition to being a pianist and music director for community theaters.
