Former Harvard resident, World War II veteran
Arthur W. Callbeck, formerly of Harvard and Lunenburg, died Aug. 30, 2012 at the age of 86, after a period of declining health. He was married to Frances M. (Nancy) Callbeck for 63 years before her death in April.
He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl A. Igou, and her husband Robert G., Jr. of Stokesdale, NC; a son, Gerald A. Callbeck, and his wife Angela of Pepperell; five grandchildren, Christopher A. Callbeck of Maynard, Geralyn C. Callbeck of Leominster, Krista G. Igou of Smyrna, Georgia, and Katie and Molly Callbeck of Pepperell, and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Arthur received a Bronze Star for his services in the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. He was an employee for more than 30 years at the former General Radio in Concord, Mass. A longtime craftsman, he made furniture and clocks for many family members. After his retirement in 1985, he enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family and dogs.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
