The Harvard Road Race Association recently announced the 21st running of the Apple Harvest Ramble Road Races. The races will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 9 a.m., starting and ending at the Bromfield School.
Scheduled for the beginning of the foliage season and the peak of apple-picking season, organizers say each race is on a challenging course with magnificent views of Nashoba Valley.
Race director Mike Thornton notes several features of this year’s races.
“Once again, we are offering homemade apple pies from the Harvard Congregational Church’s pie festival and some locally produced honey as overall and age-group awards,” he said.
New this year, the races are being run during the Harvard Farmers’ Market.
“The market is hosted across the street from the finish,” Thornton said. “Check out all of the fresh, local food right after the race and support local growers. There will be free lemonade for runners after the race!”
Online registration is available at www.harvardraces.org. Race day registration will be held at Bromfield School from 7 to 8:45 a.m. Entry fees are $25 (10-miler) and $20 (5-miler) through Sept. 15 and $30 and $25 respectively after Sept. 15. High quality technical shirts are included in early registration and are also available for $15 on race day. Runners age 65 and over can register for $15.
There will be seven male and female age divisions: Junior (19 and under), Open (20-29), Sub-Masters (30-39), Masters (40-49), Seniors (50-59), Veterans (60-69), and 70 and Over (70+).
Awards will be given to the top finishers in each division. There will also be awards for the top resident finishers in each division.
