The Lit’ry Life 2012: Poetry by Sophie Thompson

Flute

Blow in blow out the whistle type
for beginners you will get a little dizzy
smooth is the rhythm
be prepared for a recital
won’t you learn the scales?
You know all the notes practically
would you like to take flute?
Cause it’s a lot of fun!

Swimming

I like being free in water
from dizzy twisty somersaulting to
being the really high Eiffel Tower
I like to be in my imagining pretending world like a
mermaid or dolphin
but occasionally I’m a graceful butterfly
doing the painful hard butterfly stroke
but I could be a fast flying zipping rock
or a gentle pebble splashing in the pond
this is an imaginative sport
