Harvard General Store owners Adam and Lyn Horowitz have made good progress toward the sale of the store business and its likely continued operation in the center of town, Lyn Horowitz told the Press last week.
Horowitz said last Thursday that she and her husband have been gratified by the response, as several potential buyers have come forward. The business has been taken off the market, she said, and final terms of sale are being negotiated with an interested buyer.
It was about one month ago that Adam Horowitz sent an email to friends of the Harvard General Store, announcing the couple’s intention to sell the store business, retaining ownership of the building. According to Lyn Horowitz, negotiations are proceeding along these lines, with the new business owner leasing the two lower floors of the building.
The Harvard Press will be able to continue to occupy its third floor office, as it has since March 2009, Horowitz said.
Horowitz said she expects to be able to announce completion of the sale and to introduce the new owner within a few weeks. The store will continue to operate pending completion of the sale.
