At 6:22 p.m., police investigated a minor motor vehicle accident on Granite View Lane. A driver had hit a tree while trying to avoid a deer, according to police. The driver was not taken to the hospital. At 6:52 p.m., police responded to a report of an altercation between two females at the Fourth of July festivities at Fruitlands on Prospect Hill Road. The fray was broken up, police say, and no charges resulted.
Wednesday, July 4
At 2:04 a.m., police investigated a suspicious motor vehicle parked but running in the Pond Road lot. Police say the driver, 16, was violating the terms of his junior operator license because he had two passengers in the car who were 15 and 16. The passengers’ parents came to retrieve them, police say. At 10:17 a.m., police received a report that someone had pulled a mailbox out of the ground in front of an Old Littleton Road home. At 10:29 a.m., a man whose father used to live in a now-vacant Old Littleton Road home told police it appeared someone had broken into the home and removed several copper pipes. Police say the incident is under investigation. At 2:52 p.m., police responded to a report of an attempted breaking and entering at a Warren Avenue home. According to police, a female resident there said she had returned home and as she was walking into the house, she heard a door shut. The woman’s husband reported encountering the suspect outside the home and chasing him, police say. According to the husband, the suspect ran to his car and drove away. Police say they are close to making an arrest in the case.
Thursday, July 5
At 7:52 a.m., a resident of Ayer Road reported two cast iron flower pots had been stolen from the front of his home. At 3:14 p.m., a woman told police she had seen a suspicious man come out of the woods near her Shaker Road home. The man told her he was looking for his lost dog, the woman told police. Police checked the area, but report they could not locate the man.
Friday, July 6
At 9:55 p.m., police report giving a verbal warning for trespassing to two men who were walking in the woods near the intersection of Still River and Prospect Hill roads. The men said they had been left there by a third man who drove away, leaving them to walk home, police report.
Saturday, July 7
At 4:43 p.m., police received a report a pony was running loose on Still River Road. The pony’s owner was contacted ,and the pony returned home safely, police say. At 9:38 p.m., a resident of Ann Lees Road complained about hearing fireworks. Police checked the area but report they could not locate the fireworks. At 10:34 p.m., a resident of Ayer Road complained about hearing fireworks. Police checked the area but report they could not locate the fireworks.
Sunday, July 8
At 8:50 a.m., a resident of East Bare Hill Road reported a landscaping truck was parked on a blind curve there. Police asked the landscaper to move the truck, which he did, police report. At 1:15 p.m., a Harvard man called police to ask to speak to an officer about people at his home with his son. There is no further information available on the incident.
Monday, July 9
At 4:22 p.m., a woman reported she had left a Prospect Hill Road home 20 minutes earlier, and a suspicious vehicle had been parked at the end of the driveway the whole time she was there. As she left the home, the woman told police, the driver of the vehicle ducked down. Police responded to the address, but report the suspicious car was no longer there.
