The Harvard Farmers’ Market will open for its sixth season on Aug. 11. Located in its usual spot at the Hildreth Elementary School, the market will feature all of our familiar favorites, such as Bagel Alley, Applefield Farm, The Biscuit, Harper’s Farm, Paul Correnty’s Soups, Samira’s Homemade, and Harvard Sweet Boutique, as well as several new vendors. We welcome the return of Flats Mentor Farm, who attended only two weeks of our previous season before having their crops destroyed by the flooding of Bolton Flats in early September of last year. Over the course of the market season, which runs through the end of October, community events will take place at the market, including Wool Day, an event to bring local wool and fabric artisans together to share their knowledge and products; Get Growing!, a judged event with multiple entry classes for fruit and vegetables; Farmer for a Day, in which school-age kids are invited to join the market as vendors for the day; and The Great Dog Rescue New England, a favorite program established years ago, which helps to find families for homeless dogs. Local live music is featured each market day.
The Harvard Farmers’ Market runs Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon, with the exception of Columbus Day weekend. More information on vendors, events, recipes, musicians, volunteer opportunities, and contributing to support the market are available at harvardfarmersmarket.org.
